DERMATOPATHOLOGY

When necessary for establishing or confirming a diagnosis for inflammatory diseases or tumors of the skin, your doctor may take a very small piece of skin. This is called a biopsy. The skin specimen is sent to our laboratory and processed so it can be examined under a microscope by one of our dermatopathologists: Stephen P. Brady M.D., Laboratory Director or Molly B. Chartier, M.D., dermatopathologist. (This is a sub-specialty of pathology). A report will be sent to your doctor who will use this additional information in the treatment of your skin condition.
